Mallaig Boatyard Ltd officially opened and began trading at Corpach Slipway from 2nd November 2023.
Mallaig Boatyard Ltd was based in the fishing port of Mallaig. Trading since February 2011, the company is vital to the local community, keeping vessels running for fishing & transport across the Isles.
The company has since moved sites and now operates out of Corpach. Taking around 7 weeks, 4 lorries and an impressive amount of manpower, the yard at Corpach officially opened 2nd November 2023. The new site has better facilities: bigger slipways (yes, more than one), three times the amount of space, more storage and it’s covered! The change of slipways means that we are now able to haul more vessels out of the water at one time. Where our old slipway limited the size of the vessels, we can now take longer and heavier vessels. The cradles at Corpach have been adapted to a new set up, taking vessels up to 8m wide and 200 tonne, the cradles can also be set up to accommodate barges. Being much closer to Oban and sitting at the south end of the Caledonian Canal, we have found that our customer base has increased.
